2011 Salute to Freedom Bike Ride
Brought to you by The Rotary Club of Sanford
for the benefit of the Boys & Girls Clubs of
Volusia/Flagler and Seminole Counties

Why do we provide this awesome
ride and this great venue?

In Central Florida, the Clubs work with over 12,000 children each year.  The Boys & Girls Clubs are more than just a place for kids to go, they are a "movement" to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential.

Reaching children at an early age and providing positive activities and encouragement, the Boys & Girls Clubs provide a compelling alternative to crime, gang membership, drugs and other negative influences that affect our youth today.

The mission:  to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

"Of the 19 boys in my school class that were my friends, only two are still alive. The rest died of drug overdoses, auto accidents or committed suicide. The two of us that are still alive are the only ones that belonged to the Club."

- Club alumnus Roy G.

You Can Change the

Life of a Child

Boys & Girls Clubs of America has time-tested programs, trained professional staff and experience that has provided more than a century of hope and opportunity for youth, enabling them to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible adults.

No one knows the true value of Boys & Girls Clubs better than Club alumni. A 2007 survey of former Club kids found that despite challenges faced by some, many alumni thrive. In the United States, 30% of high school students do not graduate on time. In contrast:

  • 90% of Club alumni graduate high school;

  • 92% of alumni said their Club experience taught them that helping others is a priority; and

  • 57% of alumni said the Club saved their life.

Boys & Girls Club alumni are living proof that Clubs work. Please help change the life of a child by acting now.
